The Southern Poverty Law Center, a “civil rights watchdog,” has a long history of targeting and demonizing conservative groups solely because they disagree with the radical leftist agenda. They have labeled hundreds of upstanding conservative organizations as “hateful extremists,” simply for standing on the Biblical values that founded this nation.
SPLC designated the nonprofit “Moms for Liberty” group as extremists, even comparing them to groups in the 1950s and 1960s that attempted to re-segregate schools during the civil rights movement. The mission of Moms for Liberty, as laid out on their website, states that they are “dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government.”
The “extremist actions” of Moms for Liberty here in South Dakota include:
- Challenging school districts to strive for excellence
- Advocating for the removal of explicit content from the children’s section of a library
- Recruiting elected officials to sign a “Parent Pledge,” committing them to supporting parental rights in the education system
Despite the clear mission of Moms for Liberty, which at its core hopes to allow parents to remain involved in their children’s education, SPLC claims the group is attempting to “undermine public education holistically and to divide communities” – which apparently makes them “extremists.” If parents have to “undermine public education” to ensure their children are not being exposed to pornographic, sexual content or outright propaganda, so be it.
Moms for Liberty co-founders Tina Descovich and Tiffany Justice responded to the SPLC designation by stating: “We believe that parental rights do not stop at the classroom door and no amount of hate from groups like this is going to stop that.” (emphasis added)
Unsurprisingly, SPLC has also labeled the Family Research Council and Alliance Defending Freedom as “hate groups.” This categorization is due to their support of traditional marriage, biological realities, and strong families. In today’s world, anyone pointing to Biblical truth will be slapped with a negative label of some sort. Winston Churchill is famous for asking “You have enemies? Good. It means you have stood for something, sometime in your life.”
SPLC describes their organization as “a catalyst for racial justice” working to “dismantle white supremacy” and “strengthen intersectional movements.” In reality, they are no more than a radical leftist group that throws around bogus labels and expects people to blindly accept their categorizations. SPLC has lost all credibility, and their labels should be disregarded as political theatre.
