Children are the greatest victims of the LGBT movement.

In 2015, the US Supreme Court’s ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges “empowered” same-sex couples to marry. That faulty decision based on a work of legal fiction also inadvertently paved the way for a “right” to parenthood, which deprives children of their natural right to be raised by their biological mother and father.

“Obergefell’s purported creation of a substantive federal right to same-sex ‘marriage’ was grounded in the notion that in addition to rights explicitly stated in the Constitution, there are others — heretofore unknown to the Republic — that lurk in the shadows and include ‘intimate choices that define personal identity and beliefs,’” Constitutional Attorney Daniel Schmid wrote. “Simply put, Obergefell was created out of thin air with no foundation or constitutional precedent.”

Men and women, mothers and fathers, husbands and wives are not interchangeable roles. Over the past several decades, society has advanced the notion that women can do everything men can do, and vice versa. The truth is, men and women possess unique skillsets that cannot be replicated by the opposite sex. They also have unique weaknesses that are balanced out by their opposite sex counterparts – just as God designed. Men and women are biologically equipped to fulfil their distinct roles in society and within the family unit.

The LGBT movement has not only blurred the lines between those roles, but has made believing in them somehow an offensive and controversial idea.

In the 10 years since the disastrous Obergefell ruling, an increased number of children have been raised by same-sex parents, whether through adoption, IVF/surrogacy, or previous relationships. In each case, those children endured a state-sanctioned deprivation of their natural right to their biological mother and father.

That’s why renowned child advocate Katy Faust launched the Greater Than campaign earlier this year, a coalition of conservative organizations focused on overturning Obergefell v. Hodges.

The Greater Than campaign believes that children’s needs are greater than adult desires and ambitions. By prioritizing children’s inherent rights to both their mother and father – essential for their stability, identity, safety, and thriving – the campaign seeks to reverse the societal harms that have elevated adult desires over children’s well-being.

When Obergefell invented a “right” to marry a person of the same sex, the law was forced to accomplish what biology prohibits, making two adults of the same sex parents of a child. That required a decade-long overhaul of parenthood centered around adult desire rather than children’s needs.

“The legal result of so-called adult equality has been the commodification of children. Ask the children who have been starved of maternal or paternal love, acquired by predators, mass produced, trafficked across borders, struggling with identity confusion, or subjected to risky households if they feel ‘equal’ now. We will retake marriage for the sake of these children whose basic needs should never have been made less than in the eyes of the law,” Faust stated.

“The connection between natural marriage and child protection is primal, real, and unescapable. The Obergefell holding ultimately cannot stand against it,” Faust added.

The Greater Than coalition includes dozens of state and national organizations dedicated to restoring the primacy of the natural mother-father-child bond in culture and law, and to retaking marriage on behalf of children to end the decade-long injustice they have suffered.
