“When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.” -Mark 13:7-8
Our hearts are heavy with the tragedy of the Israeli-Hamas war and the extreme violence and brutality thousands of women, children, and elderly are facing. Please join us as we pray without ceasing for the people of Israel and the innocent civilians on both sides of this dispute, as well as for the protection, strength and ability of the Israeli soldiers defending their home and their families.
We encourage you to look beyond the geopolitical implications of this war for a moment and beseech God to bring peace to this region, on behalf of those experiencing the worst humanity has to offer. Each day brings news of more unthinkable horrors and evil acts committed by Hamas, and we grieve alongside our Jewish friends for the indefensible acts of aggression they have experienced over the past several days.
The Bible commands us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) and “keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18). So, despite how dire this situation appears, we will honor that commandment:
We pray for the peace of God to be with every individual suffering under the reign of Hamas. We pray for the Gospel to abound and the power of Jesus to be revealed to every Jew and Muslim in this conflict. We pray for comfort in the midst of tragedy, and salvation in the midst of despair. We pray for the truth to be revealed and for wisdom for our governments. We pray for God to intervene and protect, heal, and shelter the thousands of displaced civilians. We know He is in control and he has not forsaken the land of Israel.
“Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” – Psalm 121:4
