Women’s rights are being trampled by political correctness. Dozens of female athletes have lost hard-earned positions and titles at the behest of the LGBT mob and gender-confused men. Thankfully, the Supreme Court has a chance to set the record straight, affirm biological realities, and protect women’s sports.
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and the Alliance Defending Freedom filed a motion requesting the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse a ruling from the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that blocked West Virginia’s Save Women’s Sports Act without providing any legal or factual reasoning.
West Virginia passed the Save Women’s Sports Act (HB 3292) last April, stating that “male and female sports teams in public secondary schools and colleges be based on biological sex.”
“Female athletes have fought long and hard for equal opportunities, and they deserve to compete on a fair and level playing field,” said ADF Senior Counsel Christiana Kiefer.
“Biological differences between males and females matter in sports. West Virginia and 17 other states have enacted laws that protect women and girls from having to compete against males. Every woman deserves the respect and dignity that comes with having an equal opportunity to excel and win in athletics,” she continued.
As we know, men and women are biologically different, designed by God to be distinct. Allowing the two sexes to compete against each other simply isn’t fair, and often isn’t safe. The physical advantages that men have over women don’t disappear with the administration of cross-sex hormones. Studies have even been conducted to prove this.
This is the first case involving protecting women’s sports at the state level to make it to the Supreme Court, meaning the court may not agree to take it up. However, it is very likely that the Supreme Court will eventually tackle this issue as similar cases make their way up.
At the same time, the Biden administration is working to amend Title IX to force institutions to allow biological men to compete against women. Doing so would essentially erase women’s sports by completely removing their level playing field.
At the very least, lawmakers of every state should fight back by protecting women’s sports through common sense legislation. South Dakota is one of 18 states that have passed legislation to save women’s sports. Last year, Gov. Noem signed a bill banning biological men from competing against women. Women in every state deserve the same respect.
Unless our society operates in accordance with biological realities, chaos, confusion, and injustice will be the norm.
It’s time for women’s sports to receive protection across the country, not just within state lines. Please pray that the Supreme Court finally addresses the issue and for truth to prevail.
